Moderation Policy

Our online discussion platform allows you the opportunity to post comments that are publicly viewable on this website. The aim is to ensure the discussion is fair, inclusive, relevant and constructive. Moderation will not be used to suppress legitimate, reasoned discussions. Our moderation policy is to ensure that comments are appropriate and not harmful to others.

The discussion platform will be moderated in accordance with our Terms of Use. Moderators will monitor the site Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Outside of these times comments will be moderated on the next business day.

The secretariat supporting the Independent Review Panel will administer the discussion platform and reserve the right to refuse, moderate, move or remove (including delete, hide or edit), any material that you post that is deemed to be in breach of the Terms of use. Moderation is at the administrator’s discretion, exercised in accordance with the Terms of use and Australian law.

The views and opinions expressed on this site do not necessarily represent the views of the Independent Review Panel. The Independent Review Panel cannot be held responsible for the accuracy, currency or reliability of information posted by external parties.

If you have a complaint about an item of user-generated content on this site, or feel that your own content was removed in error, please contact us.

This moderation policy is subject to change to address additional matters as required.

Caretaker

In the period preceding an election for the House of Representatives, the Australian Government assumes a caretaker role. It is important during that time that Australian Government resources are not used to communicate political material. As this website is hosted by the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, the site will be moderated from the time the House of Representatives is dissolved until after the election to ensure that political material is not placed on the site.
