Submission:

Staff numbers and a sense of serving the public.

Many things are wrong with the APS and as a former employee it annoys me greatly. Dealing with Centrelink on behalf of my father has left me in tears. I know I am not alone there after talking to family and friends.

The introduction of productivity reviews has destroyed any sense of serving the public. I hope you get many submissions pointing this out as it seems so blindingly obvious but it escapes those in charge. Possibly because they are paid excessive wages to help annihilate the idea.

Of course staff numbers need to be drastically increased. A complete failure of regulation in many APS departments proves this.

Lastly privatisation is no answer.
